Experienced Field Leadership
Pair practical construction leadership with formal trade qualifications so crews are supported by people who understand both the work and the standards.
Rainy Lake Developments is building a workforce model around skilled trades, internal advancement and long-term careers across the RLD group.
RLD is First Nations-led through its founder and family, and the group intends to make First Nations employment, apprenticeship and career advancement a visible part of how it grows.
Mitchell Construction, Rainy Lake Windows & Doors and future RLD operating companies are being developed with a preference for building permanent local capability rather than relying entirely on outside labour and subcontracting.
That includes focused outreach to First Nations workers and communities, entry-level opportunities, supervised on-the-job learning, registered apprenticeships where available, and clear pathways from employee to skilled tradesperson to field leadership.
Employment opportunities remain role- and qualification-specific, but the objective is to make the Rainy Lake group a place where people can build recognized skills and a long-term career close to home.
The goal is a vertically integrated construction organization with the people and credentials needed to perform an increasing share of each project with its own workforce.
Pair practical construction leadership with formal trade qualifications so crews are supported by people who understand both the work and the standards.
Create supervised routes into recognized trades and support employees as they accumulate workplace hours, complete in-school training and advance toward certification.
Develop an RLD skilled-trades education program that can fund approved schooling and training in return for a clearly documented post-training service commitment.
Build pathways from labourer and apprentice through certified trade, crew leadership, project supervision and operating-company management.
The long-term objective is to minimize dependence on external subcontractors by developing the core trades and specialties needed to deliver complete projects within the group.
Site leadership, framing, envelope work, interior construction and general residential execution.
Develop licensed in-house electrical capacity as the workforce and project pipeline justify it.
Build plumbing, HVAC and related mechanical capability through qualified hires and apprenticeship development.
Roofing, siding, windows, doors, flashing, weather protection and related exterior systems.
Expand internal capability for foundations, flatwork and site construction where practical.
Develop reliable internal finishing capacity and add specialty disciplines as project volume supports dedicated crews.
Some regulated or highly specialized work may continue to require outside licensed contractors while internal capability is being developed. The strategic direction is to bring more of that expertise into the RLD group over time.
The planned program is intended to help eligible employees pursue a chosen trade without having to choose between earning a living and developing a career.
Subject to final program rules and written agreements, RLD intends to support approved tuition, apprenticeship schooling and related trade-training costs for selected employees.
Participants would make a defined post-training employment commitment to work within the Rainy Lake group, allowing the company to recover the value of its investment through long-term service while the employee gains a recognized career credential.
Final eligibility, funding limits, service terms and any repayment provisions will be set out in formal program documents before launch.
